TATA Aria launch in Europe next year
TATA Motors is clear that in order to conquer the Old World has to improve its vehicle range. Already this year 2010 we will see major developments but possibly the most interesting, the Aria, is unavailable until 2011.
TATA’s offense will try to reinforce the image of low-cost vehicle but without giving an acceptable quality and complete equipment. For Spain have not yet seen the plans, although it is known that the Indica Vista should not linger long, and the Nano will be ready later this year. The largest of the range will be the Aria, a car halfway between an SUV and an MPV, equipped with all wheel drive and a diesel engine of 2.2 liters and 140 hp. The mark ensures that works in a more powerful version that allows for a more carefree walk (170 hp).
Currently, Tata is present in Italy, Poland, Turkey and Spain, but future plans include the UK, France, Germany and other neighboring markets.

I don’t think the Aria will be successful in Europe. The Aria has a ladder frame and is more of an off roader than an on roader and is not really suited to European use. Europeans don’t do real off-roading – they simply want a conventional lightweight monocoque car with a raised suspension and limited roll to ride over speed bumps at the highest possible speed. The Nissan Quashqi is the archetypal example of the perfect European crossover. A Tata Indica Vista with a raised suspension and body restyled to look more like an SUV would have been better.
I think the Aria is likely to have more success in the US.
