Chrysler was thinking about changing its name to Sebring
It is unusual, but not unusual for a manufacturer decides to change his name to one of his star models enjoy a spite on recognition. Sometimes this is because the new generation seems so little to the previous which seeks to emphasize the aesthetic and technological progress of the car (see change-Insignia Vectra), in others because the last model was a churro so great that it is better to start from scratch and avoid uncomfortable associations. Well, with the redesign of Sebring, Chrysler could choose to apply the story.
According publishes the Detroit Free Press, Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Chrysler Group, when the Pentagon crash present its new midsize sedan, we see “a completely different animal,” while launching deserve a name change. This is something that is being discussed internally, not for the moment a decision is taken regarding the final name. What seems clear is that the car that will debut later this year will resemble the current as a pear to an apple, and considering how low is the bar right now, that can not be a bad thing.
Possibly one of the most interesting details is that the Sebring is not a substitute for a new generation to use, but a restyling that reach almost to the bone, replacing all but the platform (which in any case be heavily modified to improve the quality of filming). There is even talk of the possibility that Fiat can introduce its Multi 2.4 GEMA engine to reduce their consumption, although this is more speculation than anything else. Whatever happens, the Sebring (or whatever you call it) should be a competitive model to the arrival of his replacement in 2013, so hopefully something really big. Cross your fingers that give Marchionne and his boys in white.
